Chuo Bukkyo Gakuin

How much have I changed
after one-year course of study!

I knew nothing about Buddhism or Shin Buddhism at all, but, after taking the regular course at Chuo Bukkyo Gakuin Buddhist Seminary for just one year, I am now familiar with the Buddhist teaching, and able to read the Buddhist sutras correctly and gratefully…
I was not a graduate of Chuo Bukkyo Gakuin Buddhist Seminary, but, after taking the postgraduate course for just one year, I can now plainly deliver the teaching to so many people…

2020 sees
Chuo Bukkyo Gakuin Buddhist Seminary
change for the new era.

Postgraduate course for kyoshi ministers, helpful for temple management and missionary service

In 2020, Chuo Bukkyo Gakuin Buddhist Seminary celebrates the 100th anniversary of its foundation.
On this occasion, our postgraduate course will change its curriculum, focusing more on temple management and missionary service, in order to meet the demands of the new era. The reason for the reform is that we hope to serve the efforts to deal with population decrease and foreign immigration in Japan. Therefore, we have increased the number of courses on missionary service, which are open for Hongwanji-ha kyoshi ministers.
Moreover, in the coming academic year of 2020, we will set up courses on the method of preaching Buddhism in English, with the idea of accepting foreign immigrants as Shin Buddhist members.
As for temple management learning, in the academic year of 2019, we opened courses on social missionary activities, on religious issues, and on training for residential ministers and assistants, which would be useful for temple ministerial successors living apart from their temples for a long time. These courses are very popular among current students.
We call for many non-graduate kyoshi ministers. With a view to being prepared for future missions, how about studying at Chuo Bukkyo Gakuin Buddhist Seminary?

Regular course and correspondence course, where you can study Buddhism and Shin Buddhism from the basic level to acquire residential minister’s license (jushoku qualification).

We also have a one-year program of the regular course and a three-year program of the correspondence course, where you can study Buddhism and Shin Buddhism from the basic level.
There are 10,000 temples and 32,000 priests in Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha, and, among them, 5,900 priests are graduates of our academy. In addition, 6,800 people finished our correspondence course. Many people are delighted at studying Buddhism form the rudiments.
Those who aspire to study true Buddhism and those who intend to become residential ministers (jushoku) of Hongwanji-ha, please join us at Chuo Bukkyo Gakuin Buddhist Seminary. We will help you with good care and kindness.
